Exploring Style: Pictoriamism and Impressionism

 Recently, I have been looking more into my personal photographic style, and what inspired it, thanks to my projects for Photo Design class.

I feel that my style more closely aligns with Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, and Pictorialism the best. All three emphasize every-day scenes, beauty, and the touch of the maker, the human component, rather than being a cold and clinical reproduction of reality.

In particular, some of my work, especially my earlier black-and-white work (which I've talked about before), in some ways reflects the work of pictorialist photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Steichen in how it focuses on beauty and aesthetic value over narrative value and storytelling (which I don't feel that I've ever been very good with anyway) ; and impressionist painters in how my work is often in very subded or very bright colors (with no in-between) and with flat perspective, often with visible grain due to the technical process I used (high ISO digital imaging or film)
