Cutting Carrots: The Basics of Videography and Editing

Video, both shooting and editing, has been the bane of my class assignments since the start of my journey in the SFCC photo program.

But, (and not by my own choice,) I have jumped, flailing and hollering, side-first into the world of video and editing!

First, the photographing.

After several attempts, I got a usable establishing scene, showing my classmate sitting down - one from a head-height POW and the other from just barely off of the floor - and then beginning to type. Several actions shots with cuts following motion, and then a pan over to his other (left) shoulder, with several more action shots and a outro. My biggest technical challenge was probably correcting the slightly wonky light palace resulting fro, the different light temperatures in the room, none of which I could manage to properly match while shooting. Luckily, with my professor's help, I managed to do an acceptable job here. I also slightly adjusted exposure on some of the clips, and employed shake reduction software to correct for my lack of stability (as I did not shoot with a tripod).

The rest I had done for my 1st slideshow project (which was really an introduction to the video editing software anyway) so I did not have much trouble besides that.
