Exploring shadow

 Shadow is one of the most important parts of a photograph. A shadow can say nearly or even just as much as a shining light, leaving the contents of the shadow obscured and up to the viewer.

Shadow can be mysterious, alluring or repelling. It focuses your eyes onto the lighter part of the image, while still allowing complexity and detail that a shallow DOF would not.

Mastery of light, a lack of light, and shadow is a challenge that I continue to work with.
